150 firefighters tackle major fire at London warehouse as major incident declared

Around 150 firefighters have responded to a large blaze at a warehouse in west London – as the fire service declared a major incident.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) has sent 25 fire engines to the incident on Bridge Road, Southall. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

The fire service said in a statement that the blaze "is located in a two-storey structure consisting of a warehouse and retail space".

"Around three-quarters of the structure is currently alight," LFB added. "Three of the Brigade turntable ladders have been deployed to scene, allowing crews to fight the fire from height."

In an update after midday, Assistant Commissioner Pat Goulbourne, the Brigade’s incident commander, said that "a major incident has been declared" at the scene.
