2025 was UK's hottest summer on record, Met Office data confirms | ITV News

Provisional data from the Met Office has confirmed that this summer was the UK’s warmest on record.

The average temperature across all four nations from June to August was 16 point 1 Celsius – that’s more than 1 and a half degrees higher than the long-term average.

And it’s not a one off: The famous summer of 1976 now doesn’t even feature in the top 5 of UK hot summers.

Cari Davies reports from Lincolnshire on the effects of our changing climate and ITV Weather Presenter Becky Mantin explains why the record breaking heat should be taken seriously.
