Police are still searching for five of 37 prisoners who were mistakenly freed under Labour’s early release scheme.

The Ministry of Justice says they were released in error on the 10th of September because they’d been sentenced under repealed legislation. That meant their offence was logged incorrectly and they were not flagged as being exempt from the scheme to cut overcrowding in prisons.
