On Saturday 11 May 1985 56 Bradford City supporters died in a fire at Valley Parade stadium.
The day began with celebrations- Bradford City had won the Third Division Championship and 11,000 people were inside the stadium to watch Captain Peter Jackson lift the trophy. The match was between Bradford City and Lincoln City, but before half time, ITV commentator John Helm spotted a fire in one of the stands. Within five minutes the fire had engulfed the whole stand. Forty years later, ITV News spoke to relatives who lost loved ones in a tragedy which resulted in the deaths of 56 men, women and children.
