Jessica was able to legally access the drugs in her home state of Oregon, USA, where assisted dying has been available for almost thirty years.
Oregon’s law has some similarities with the one being preposed for England and Wales – ITV News’ UK Editor Paul Brand went to see how assisted dying operates in the States, and whether the safeguards in place seem sufficient to prevent vulnerable people from being pressured into unwanted deaths.
