Thousands of children are being treated in NHS hospital corridors and waiting rooms, according to data obtained by ITV News. The parents of a toddler who spent hours in a busy A&E corridor shortly before he died, have told ITV News it is "emblematic of a broken system". In the final hours of two-year-old Finlay Roberts’ life, his mother even had to administer a rectal suppository to her critically ill son, while sitting on a chair in the public area.
A spokesperson from Whittington Hospital, said "Whittington Health NHS Trust, like many NHS organisations across the country, continues to experience periods of exceptional demand across urgent and emergency care services. Our staff work tirelessly to provide safe and compassionate care in extremely challenging conditions, and we continue to take all possible steps to improve patient flow, increase capacity and reduce the need for care to be delivered in these environments. The Trust extends its sincere condolences to Finlay’s family.”
