Hamas says it will release one of the hostages still being held in Gaza. Edan Alexander is an US-Israeli soldier who was abducted during the October 7, 2023, attack. The militant group said he could be freed within two days as a goodwill gesture to the United States ahead of US President Donald Trump’s trip to the region this week.
