Hundreds of residents in two tower blocks in Merseyside have been warned they could be made homeless with little notice because the buildings they live in are so dangerous.
The move has triggered intense anguish among those living in the properties.
One man Sky News spoke to has terminal cancer, another resident had just sunk her life savings into buying one of the flats.
With a complex management structure and several owners, managers and agents over the years, the council says it doesn’t even know who is to blame for the disrepair – or who even has the legal responsibility for maintaining the buildings.
