European parliament president Roberta Metsola has said it is ‘about damn time’ that European countries began making plans to increase defence spending and support for Ukraine ahead of a meeting of European heads of state in the wake of the Trump administration’s signalling that it will withdraw aid for Ukraine and Europe.
