Afghan woman wins cycling medal after training disguised as a man

23-year-old Fariba Hashimi has taken home a silver medal for cycling at the Asian Games.

She had to initially train disguised as a man to avoid attacks when she grew up in Afghanistan. She left the country when the Taliban took back power in 2021, where women’s access to education and public life is heavily restricted.
