In 2019 Ghanaian president Nana Akufo-Addo opened his country’s doors to Africans across the world. It was dubbed the ‘year of return’ and saw huge success with over a million people travelling to Ghana, many to learn about their heritage. Nearly a third of those visitors were African Americans, and since then, more than a thousand of them have officially made the move to make Ghana their home. With a divisive US election looming, Kaf Okpattah went to speak to the African Americans who’ve left the States behind.
