Air India plane crash: Latest on survivors and causes | DW Analysis

An Air India passenger plane has crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad in northwest India. Officials said 242 people were on board. At least 100 bodies have been taken to local hospitals, though many more are feared dead, due to the extensive damage to buildings at the crash site. Air India Flight 171 was minutes into its journey from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick when it lost altitude. It was carrying passengers and crew from India, Canada, Portugal and the United Kingdom.
