Al-Quds Day march banned after the government approves Police request

The Government has approved a request by the Metropolitan Police to ban a march organised by a group linked to Iran in central London this weekend – along with any counter-protest marches.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said the move was necessary to "prevent serious public disorder".

The Islamic Human Rights Commission, which organises the annual Al Quds Day march, said a static protest would take place instead.
