The British Egyptian activist Alaa Abdel Fattah has been reunited with his family – after he was freed from an Egyptian jail.

Abdel Fattah – who was one of the country’s most prominent political prisoners – was given a pardon by the Egyptian president after spending almost 6 years behind bars.
The Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said she "strongly welcomed" the news.
