The economy under his Labor Party was sluggish – the electorate worried about the cost of living. His right-wing challenger Peter Dutton echoed Donald Trump in promising to attack public spending and the " woke agenda". And then came Trump’s tariffs.
And today a Labor landslide with Peter Dutton even losing his seat.
