An armed man was shot dead by Secret Service agents after entering the secure perimeter of President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, authorities have said.
The man was seen by the property’s north gate carrying "what appeared to be a shotgun and a fuel can" at around 1.30am on Sunday, the Secret Service said.
While the intruder has not been officially named by authorities, local media in the US have named the suspect as 21-year-old Austin Tucker Martin, from North Carolina.
While Trump often spends weekends at his resort, neither he nor the First Lady Melania Trump, were at their Florida home during the incident.
