Analysis: How worried should the UK be about the stock market turmoil? | ITV News

UK and global markets have fallen again following the newest Trump tariffs.

US President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs on at least 60 countries have now come into effect, including a dramatic 104% levy on Chinese goods, as European and Asian markets tumble.

The President said: "They’ve ripped us off left and right, but now it’s our turn."

London’s FTSE opened on Wednesday with a significant 2.34% loss, while France’s CAC 40 fell 2.4% and Germany’s DAX dropped around 2.3%. In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei 225 tumbled more than 5%, with other regional markets also sliding as the latest round of Trump tariffs came into force.

What does this mean for the UK economy, and how worried should we be? ITV News Political Correspondent Shehab Khan explains what this means.
