Gangs of youths ran riot in London for the second time in a matter of days with terrified families hiding inside high street stores.
Shops in Clapham, south London, were forced to shut early, with families barricading themselves indoors.
Similarly in 2006, London experienced a no surge in "steaming" – a criminal tactic where gangs of youths swarm public transport, shops, or individuals, using intimidation and violence to rob them.
Speaking to GB News Breakfast, former Met Police Detective Peter Bleksley described the scenes as "anarchy".
A Met spokesman told GB News: "Officers will remain in the area to offer support and respond to any concerns from local residents and businesses."
