Prime Minister Andy Burnham has accused Russia of mounting an “industrial-scale assault” on Britain and its allies through disinformation and cyberattacks.
Addressing the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Burnham said Russia had been allowed to spread a “negative, corrosive narrative” about life in Britain for too long, had attempted to interfere in the 2019 general election.
He claimed the Kremlin now spends around £1.3 billion a year manipulating information.
