Andy Burnham promised on Friday to "bring back hope" to the country as he was officially confirmed as Labour Leader ahead of becoming Prime Minister on Monday.
The Makerfield MP said it was "a proud moment" for him and one he’s ready for – pledging the biggest change in politics for 40 years to help working class communities across the whole country.
The former Greater Manchester Mayor said the big things would be fixed – including social care – and he would make his party "distinctively" Labour.
He thanked his predecessor Sir Keir Starmer but made it clear he would do things his own way, and said we will have to wait to see who will be in his Cabinet.
