Angela Rayner: By-election defeat MUST be a wake-up call for the Labour Party

Angela Rayner has told Sir Keir Starmer that Labour’s defeat in the Gorton and Denton by-election must be a “wake-up call”.

In what will be interpreted as a challenge to the Prime Minister, Sir Keir’s former deputy demanded that he pay attention to voters after the party lost a traditionally safe seat to the Greens, slumping to third.
