Are younger people going to pay more to protect older people’s pensions?
From 2029, a new cap will hit pension salary sacrifice – that’s when you take a bit off your salary and put it in your pension instead. You can currently put money into your pension without paying National Insurance, but soon only the first £2,000 will stay NI-free.
The government expects to raise £4.7 billion from the change.
