Arrests made at FIFA world cup protests in Morocco

More than 100 young Moroccans have reportedly been arrested following clashes with the police at some of the largest anti-government protests the country has seen for years.

Over the weekend, hundreds of young people took to the streets in cities across Morocco, accusing the government of prioritising spending on sporting events like the FIFA World Cup and AFCON tournament, at the expense of public sector spending on health and education.

The protests come just weeks after reports that eight pregnant women died in a public hospital, in the Moroccan city of Agadir.
