At least 800 dead in Afghan earthquake

Eastern Afghanistan has been hit by a shallow, 6.0 magnitude earthquake overnight, which the Taliban authorities say has killed at least 812 people, with thousands more injured.

People have been digging through rubble with their bare hands searching for missing loved ones in the Kunar province where three villages were completely flattened.

The health ministry has called for international aid to help them cope with the disaster.
