Atomfall is a new survival adventure game set in Cumberland. It is based on the aftermath of the historic Windscale fire which happened at what is now known as Sellafield in 1957.
In the virtual world, most of Cumbria is confined to a quarantine after the Windscale fire, an event known to be one of the worst nuclear accidents in history. Radioactive material spread across the UK and Europe, and cows milk had to be thrown away due to the radioactive contents. Atomfall immerses players in a world of government conspiracy with bandits and robots roaming the countryside hills.
Rebellion Developments Limited designed the game and drew inspiration from the Lake District’s "perfectly dramatic" landscape. ITV News Border went to meet the team behind the new virtual Cumbria.
