Australian MP Helen Haines has been taken to hospital with "critical injuries" after she was hit by a car near her regional office in Wangaratta, Victoria, police have said.
"This wasn’t an accident – there was a deliberate act, it would appear," said Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
Police have said they’re investigating whether it was "intentional" and a 43-year-old man, from nearby Tarrawingee, was arrested at the scene by a passer-by.
