The best-selling author Dame Jilly Cooper has died at the age of 88.

She was best known for her so-called ‘bonkbusters’ like Riders and Rivals, which was set in the ruthless world of 1980s television and was adapted into a Disney plus series last year.
Much of her writing about class, sex, dogs, horses and rivalry drew on her own well-to-do upbringing and knowledge of living in the west country.
