‘Awful April’: UK household bills set to rise today

Millions of households across the UK are facing rising bills from today at the start of the new financial year. Council tax in England will rise by around 5% – while in Scotland the increase will be at least 8%.

In England and Wales – water bills will go up by an average of £10 a month, with energy increasing by an average of £111 a year. The Prime Minister said millions of Britons on the minimum wage would be getting a pay rise.
