She said the bill wrecked a cross-party consensus (on academy freedoms) that had lasted for decades. Starmer replied that Labour had introduced academies and they would stay.
The bill will include measures for the safeguarding and welfare of children, as well as policies including breakfast club provision and on school uniforms
