Badenoch says UK 'doesn't need to raise fuel duty' - and hits out at Starmer over energy policies

Kemi Badenoch has told Sky News that the UK does not need to raise fuel duty, and has criticised the government’s energy policies.

Speaking to Sky’s Ali Fortescue, the Tory leader said Britain should be preparing itself for more "oil shocks" as the conflict in the Middle East continues, and freezing fuel duty would be "pure common sense".

Ms Badenoch also hit out at Sir Keir Starmer’s leadership, saying the prime minister is "not running the country anymore" and "if he can’t do the job then he should let someone else have a go".
