Barclays to cut 5,000 jobs as AI makes work more ‘efficient’

Barclays says it expects to cut some five thousand staff – that’s five percent of its workforce – by the end of the year as AI makes the bank more efficient.

Around one thousand of the roles were cut in the first half of the year.

The rest will be spread out over the second half.
