BBC apologises to Trump over Panorama edit but rejects compensation claim | ITV News

The BBC has apologised to US President Donald Trump over the editing of a speech on a Panorama documentary, claiming it was an "error of judgement", but rejected his claim for compensation.

The documentary featured two clips from a speech made by Trump on January 6 2021 which were spliced together, reportedly making it appear that he was encouraging his supporters to riot.

The broadcaster confirmed the programme, which aired in 2024, would not be broadcast again "in this form" on any BBC platforms.

Trump attacked the BBC on Wednesday, accusing it of defrauding the public and threatening to sue for $1 billion unless the broadcaster issues a retraction, apologises, and compensates him over the Panorama broadcast.
