Benefits crackdown on PIP and Universal Credit in government plan to save £5bn by 2030 | ITV News

The Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall has outlined radical changes to the benefits system to get more people into work and save £5 billion by 2030.

The changes include scrapping a controversial benefits assessment, and tightening the eligibility criteria for disability benefits.

"Millions of people who could work [are] trapped on benefits", Kendall told MPs in the House of Commons on Tuesday, insisting the current welfare system is "holding the country back".
