Birmingham bin strike: Council fails to secure Union pay deal

Birmingham city council has been unable to secure a deal with unions to end the bin workers’ strikes after talks failed to come to a resolution.

Negotiators from the Unite Union wanted the council to put in writing promises they say the council leader made to media this morning, including suggestions that no worker would have to lose any income.

Streets in the city are still lined with tons of uncollected rubbish and there’s a growing rat infestation.
