Birth trauma: Top midwife says 'warm words are no longer enough'

Top midwife Donna Ockenden has told Sky News action needs to be taken now to improve the quality of maternity services around the country.

The Parliamentary Birth Trauma Inquiry concluded this week that poor care is ‘frequently tolerated as normal’.

Donna Ockenden told Sky’s Sarah-Jane Mee ‘warm words are no longer enough’ and that ‘disappointing progress’ had been made in birth care, since her report two years ago which recommended ‘immediate action’.
