Data seen by ITV News shows in London, those being released from prison for knife offences are twice as likely to have an electronic monitoring device fitted to their ankle if they’re black.
The Mayor’s Office has admitted there is a disparity after settling a lawsuit brought last year on this issue by the Black Equity Organisation. They say they aim to combat racial disparity across the entire criminal justice system.
