BREAKING: Inflation falls further than expected in boost to chancellor before spring statement

Inflation has fallen further than anticipated to 2.8%, the latest data from the Office for National Statistics shows.

Most analysts had predicted a fall to 2.9% in February, down from January’s 3%. It comes ahead of the chancellor’s spring statement where she’s expected to announce further welfare cuts.
