BREAKING: 'No indication of malicious activity' in oil tanker collision in North Sea

Security sources say there is no indication of malicious activity after it emerged an oil tanker carrying jet fuel that was hit by another vessel had been chartered by the American military.

A US military spokesman said the Stena Immaculate tanker was on a short charter to the US military’s sea lift command when it was struck by a cargo ship, releasing jet fuel into the water.

This morning’s collision left both vessels on fire – some 32 casualties were reported to have been brought ashore.
