The race to become the next deputy leader of the Labour Party is heating up – with Bridget Phillipson and Lucy Powell confirmed to be the two MPs who will contest to be Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s no. 2 in the party.
Nominations closed at 5pm on Thursday, with candidates needing the backing of at least 80 MPs to be nominated.
