British climber survives unexpected storm on Everest

Almost a thousand hikers, left stranded on Mount Everest after a snowstorm struck, have now reached safety.

Some of those rescued were reportedly suffering from hypothermia, while others were escorted to a safe zone to receive medicine, food and oxygen.

One of those caught in the storm was Rob Mason from Jersey, who was climbing Everest to raise money for charity in memory of his daughter, who took her own life a few years ago.

Anyone feeling emotionally distressed or suicidal can call Samaritans for help on 116 123 or email jo@samaritans.org in the UK.
