At least 164 people have died after two powerful earthquakes struck off the northern coast of Venezuela on June 24th, with nearly thousands injured. It’s reported locally more than 10,000 people are missing. The 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes were the strongest to hit the country in more than a century and caused widespread destruction in the capital, Caracas, and as far as Brazil’s Amazon, more than 1,000 miles away.
