The government has approved military action against Russia’s so-called shadow fleet, allowing the British military to board and detain sanctioned ships in UK waters.

The announcement came as the Prime Minister arrived in Finland, ahead of the Joint Expeditionary Force summit in Helsinki, a military coalition of northern European nations.
Speaking at the start of the meeting, Sir Keir Starmer said that the threat from Russia had grown.
