
Michelle Dewberry believes the majority of Britain are concerned over "the change of the demographic" in their local areas.
It comes after Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood announced plans for members of the public to be trained to decide asylum appeals, rather than relying solely on immigration judges, in a bid to speed up decisions.
Speaking with Conservative peer Michael Gove, who suggested refugees should be asked if they want to be British, Michelle replied: "If I decided I wanted to be Japanese, I’m not going to be Japanese, am I?"
