Thirty-year-old Olorato Mongale made sure to take all the measures necessary for a safe first date in South Africa’s biggest city, Johannesburg – she was later murdered and her body dumped at the dirt entrance of a random house.
South Africa has one of the highest femicide rates in the world – an average 15 women are killed a day, many by their intimate partners.
Police say they are working to solve the issue, but for many the change isn’t coming fast enough.
