A horseracing track on the edge of Los Angeles now "resembles a refugee camp on the edge of warzone", says correspondent David Blevins.
People arriving at Santa Anita Park "are exhausted and desperate".
More than 153,000 people in Los Angeles are under evacuation orders.
"The car park has been described as the TikTok response to this emergency," says Blevins.
"The call went out online for people to come to and support their neighbours who lost everything and my goodness are they responding."
A stream of cars filled with food, water, books and clothes is arriving, he says.
