Widespread disruption at UK airports on Wednesday was an "isolated event", according to Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander, who spoke to National Air Traffic Services (Nats) boss Martin Rolfe on Thursday.
“This was an isolated event and there is no evidence of malign activity. I know that any disruption is frustrating for passengers," Alexander wrote on X.
“I will continue to receive regular updates. Passengers should check with airlines before travelling," she added.
Airlines meanwhile are demanding answers from Nats after the technical fault cancelled hundreds of flights on Wednesday, with some disruption continuing into Thursday as airports face backlog.
