Calls for urgent action over pharmaceuticals found in rivers in National Parks

The level of pharmaceutical pollution in England’s national parks is so high – it’s changing the sex of fish and damaging plant life. (Subscribe: https://bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)

That’s according to an alarming new study by scientists at York University, seen by this programme.

They tested water samples from 37 rivers, and found contamination from dozens of common medications in 95% of the locations.

They’re calling for urgent action to stop it damaging biodiversity – and even affecting human health.
