Zelenskyy is due to fly to Washington to meet with Trump on Monday. He will be joined by UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and a host of other European leaders.
French President Emmanuel Macron, the Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, and the Secretary General of Nato, Mark Rutte, are among others who have confirmed their attendance.
After hosting a call with the Coalition of the Willing, a group of European allies committed to Ukraine and run by the UK and France, Starmer praised Zelenskyy’s desire for a "just and lasting peace."
But Macron cautioned against giving concessions to Russia, saying if Ukraine and its allies appear weak, "we will prepare the conflicts of tomorrow."
Von der Leyen, speaking at a news conference in Brussels with Zelenskyy, said that "we welcome President Trump’s willingness to contribute to Article 5-like security guarantees for Ukraine and the Coalition of the Willing, including the European Union, is ready to do its share.”
