The German armed forces are courting young people with so-called “discovery days.” This is because they urgently need new recruits.
So far, the country has no conscription, but starting next year, everyone born in 2008 will get a questionnaire about their willingness to serve.
If voluntary recruitment isn’t successful, compulsory military service might be the next step.
