Canada says US is suspending tariffs for 30 days on its northern neighbor | DW News

We begin with breaking news: In the last few minutes the prime minister of Canada has announced that the US is suspending the imposition of tariffs on Ottawa for at least 30 days.

In a post on "X" Justin Trudeau said Canada had agreed to place extra security on its border to the US, deploy thousands of personnel to stop the trafficking of illegal drugs and set up a joint task force with the US to prevent organized crime. The announcement followed a telephone call be tween Trudeau and US President Donald Trump. A 10% tariff is still due to come into force on China.
